Sarah Wakeford is an up and coming artist who has undertaken a number of commissions since graduating from Edinburgh College Of Art in 2005. These include a series of paintings for the Northern General hospital in Sheffield as part of the enhancing the healing environment government scheme. She is interested in the mental journey that an image can take you on. How looking at it can transport you mentally to a different place, temporarily uplift you, remove you from your anxieties. She explores how different colours and themes can have different emotive responses. She regards artwork as a doorway through which you can enter a special secluded world. She uses a combination of media, paper and fabrics to create work that is decorative, colourful and striking.
